U.S. Bill of Rights Purpose Patient Bill of Rights
Environmental Health Concerns And The Violation of Human Rights
The United States Bill of Rights purpose (and that of the subsequent Patient Bill of Rights) was to protect our human rights.
The U.S. Constitution, perhaps the most remarkable document ever drafted for self-government was remarkable in its own right.
However, in 1791, it was amended to include, not only what the new U.S. government could do—but also what it could NOT do. The American Bill of Rights, inspired by one of my heroes, Thomas Jefferson, was adopted in 1791.
The new Bill of Rights protected the rights of individuals—from the government. Is the US now violating these freedoms?
Thomas Jefferson believed that we should be protected FROM the government—not protected BY it!
Those freedoms protected our right to privacy, our right to due process of the law and our right to be treated equally.
A bill of rights is what the people are entitled to, against every government on earth, general or particular, and what no just government should refuse. --Thomas Jefferson, December 20, 1787
The Patient Bill of Rights
The Patient Bill of Rights, passed years later, protects our rights to make decisions about our health, our health care—and to refuse health care, if we choose to do so.
You have the right to take part in decisions about your care and you are to be respected, without discrimination.
You also have the right to speak privately with your health care giver—and to keep health care information private—between you and your physician or health care providers.
The bill of rights purpose for health care, was also developed to protect your rights—this time to a healthy life.
Judge Andrew P. Napolitano has written a book A Nation of Sheep, that discusses the loss of our personal freedoms in America—and the United States government’s using the terrorist threat as an excuse to rob us of our freedoms.

Loss of Liberties And Environmental Concerns
More and more we are seeing our human rights being violated. And, not the least of these violations are the airport scanners and groping TSA employees at airports around the country.
Airport Scanners - How effective are they and can they be harmful to your health? Is the public being told everything we need to know about these scanners?
TSA Pat Down - Truly an invasion of privacy and an act that treats good citizens worse than common criminals, an enhanced pat down can be traumatic for men, women and children alike. Are they really necessary or is the TSA out of control?
Backscatter X Ray - What is a backscatter van and why should you be concerned? Do you know if you’ve seen one on your street?
Of course there are many other environmental health concerns. Some of them are natural hazards, found in the environment.
And others, like the ones listed above, are man made health concerns. We need to be vigilant and we need to understand what new technology, and new public procedures can do to our health.
Now, more than ever before, it’s important that you understand your rights—the bill of rights purpose was to give you freedoms that shouldn’t be taken away—just as it was for the early colonists more than 200 years ago!
