Food Storage Guidelines

Freeze Dried Foods to Survival Foods

Here are some food storage guidelines to help you prepare for any emergency, from a natural disaster or a pandemic to an enemy attack.

These practical guidelines will help keep your family comfortable and well fed during the first few days (or weeks) after a disaster...

People store food for different reasons, and they each store different amounts of food—depending on its purpose.

You need to know what situation you anticipate happening. And, knowing that, you can prepare your family for that situation with food for the length of time you’ll need it.

For example, preparation for a hurricane will differ from storing food purchased at today’s prices to hedge against inflation and save money—as inflation and food prices rise, your stored food will look like a bargain!

But, to do this, you will be storing a lot more food than you would have stored, if you were just preparing for the 3 days following a hurricane…

Long Term Food Storage
or Survival Foods…

Of course you really don’t have to make a choice between 3 day survival food storage and long term food storage.

The best way to be prepared is to prepare for both scenarios. Especially if you live in an area that is prone to natural disasters, make sure that you have a backpack ready—just in case.

Not sure what I’m talking about? Tornado Alley for tornadoes, the East Coast for hurricanes, and the West Coast for earthquakes.

However, just because you don’t live in one of these specific areas, doesn’t mean that you will never see an emergency situation. Even Boston has had its tornadoes.

So make sure that you are prepared, anyway…
