Swine Flu Treatment at Home



In home care may not be your first choice. But, if the health care system is overwhelmed, it may be your only choice. What should you know now, and how can you prepare yourself and your family for the possibility of taking care of pandemic flu patients in your home?

Think about this. You may have to have to step into your doctor’s shoes and make important decisions yourself. When you treat a loved one, you will have to observe your patient carefully and make any necessary adjustments.

Making decisions yourself and treating someone at home can make you feel very lonely and isolated. If you have a question that you would like to have answered, you might consult doctors advice online . This is a very important responsibility. You probably haven’t done this before with someone who could be critically ill.

Perhaps you’re thinking that you don’t want to make these decisions. And I understand that. But, if the hospitals are full and the doctors are overwhelmed with flu patients, your only choice may be in home care!

In order to develop a plan, I searched the literature and used current information available about the various flu viruses.

My family will be using this plan. I am sharing it with you, hoping that it will be a comfort and aid to you and that it will help you to protect and care for your family! Hopefully you'll never have to use it!

In addition, you may want to purchase a first aid kit. Stuff happens. And you don't want to be in the position of wishing that you had purchased one!

Here is the plan. Read each section carefully and make sure that you have any supplies that you may need. Remember that it is better to be a bit over-prepared than a bit under-prepared.

Because scientists still have so much to learn about novel H1N1, and because it may change again, I can only guarantee that I have investigated each item thoroughly, based on current knowledge.

You will need to keep up with current information as scientists learn more about this pandemic flu. And, in all cases, you will need to use your own discretion about using a particular item or method for your in home care.
