Nano Mask
The Best Choice for Swine Flu?

The nano mask is the new generation of face masks. A nanomask can block extremely small particles, even swine flu or other tiny viruses.

But the nano face mask is not necessarily for everyone...

Surgical masks and n95 respirator masks may be sufficient for some uses. However, there are some circumstances when extra protection is needed.

For example, nano face masks are useful for high risk groups like:

  • health care workers who are working with pandemic patients in hospitals and clinics
  • poultry workers who work with birds infected with the bird flu
  • lab workers who are working with dangerous viruses
  • people who are in high risk groups during a pandemic or even an epidemic of seasonal flu
  • staff members in nursing homes, community homes, and prisons
  • people who need to spend time in areas where there are sick people—especially if they will be required to be in close proximity

A nano mask has the latest technologies, called 2H filtration and nanotechnology. Nano masks are capable of filtering tiny particles as small as .02 microns.

In comparison, an n95 respirator mask can only filter particles as small as 0.3 microns. So, as you can see, the nanomasks can filter out incredibly small particles and offer protection against very small viruses.

Guidelines for Nano Face Masks

Just using a face mask doesn't make you safe. You must know how to use it correctly in order to avoid being exposed to H1N1 . The swine flu virus has the potential to make you extremely sick, so you do need to be serious about taking precautions.

Here are some guidelines for using the masks. And make sure you watch the CDC respirator face masks video on how to handle face masks. It gives some good tips.

  • If you are not using the mask, do not take it off and let it hang around your neck. It is contaminated, and the virus germs are still there.

  • If the mask gets wet, discard it. Nanomasks will no longer filter out micro-organisms when a mask is wet. It's absolutely NO protection.

  • Don't wear the mask unnecessarily. If you are not in a high risk area, take it off (using the precautions in the video).

  • Do not store the mask in a plastic bag. The mask will contaminate the inside of the bag, and you will come into contact with the virus when you remove the mask from the bag.

  • When you put a mask on, wear disposable gloves. When the mask is on your face, dispose of the gloves. Wash your hands immediately. Do the same in reverse when you take the mask off.

A nano mask is meant to be worn for 6-8 hours—no longer. When it has served its purpose, dispose of it. Proper disposable is to burn it in order to make sure that the flu virus is destroyed and is not being spread by the mask itself.

Wearing a face mask can give you some protection from the pandemic swine flu. But, you must make sure that you are following precautions to keep yourself safe.
